Every Day Smoothie
Almost two years ago I made the biggest impulse purchase of my life yet — I was coming off a gluttonous week of vacation with my family and desperately needed a detox — so I bought a refurbished Vitamix. Although the logic behind this decision was somewhat lacking, I have not regretted my purchase once. In fact, I’ve listed my Vitamix as one of the things I’m grateful for two years in a row at Thanksgiving. It truly has been a life changer.
Although the Vitamix has a ton of cool capabilities, I use it most to make this smoothie. The Vitamix is able to process greens and vegetables like no other blender, and as a result I find myself eating more leafy greens than ever before.
This simple recipe serves as the base for my green smoothie. It is so delicious, and my favorite way to start every day. You can easily add protein powder, chia seeds, nut butters, collagen peptides or whatever your heart desires.
· 1 ripe banana
· 1 cup spinach
· 1 cup kale
· ½ cup frozen mango or pineapple
· 1 cup non-dairy milk (I prefer coconut-based milk)
1. In a high-speed blender combine the banana, greens, frozen fruit, and non-dairy milk. Blend until smooth. Serve cold.
